Read MoreFairies, Dragons, Princesses, and Knights – Oh My! Plan a Fantasy Wedding
When you think of “fantasy” what images does your mind conjure? For each person “Fantasy” can be different, but a fantasy wedding can have you either spiraling like the Mad Hatter or singing with the birds like Snow White.
The first thing to do when wedding planning for a fantasy wedding is to pick your creatures and theme. Are you going to have princesses and knights slaying dragons, or are you going have flowers with dancing fairies and half goat men? Once you have decided your creatures, the next thing you’ll want to decide is if you want your guests contributing. Will your wedding be a costume appropriate event where guests can dress up to fit the theme, or will the theme be reserved for the wedding party only including unique wedding jewelry?
A fantasy wedding is sure to be one riddled with color. So the next thing you’ll want to do is pick your colors. What colors come to mind when you think of your theme? Is it bright and vibrant colors, or dark and dangerous? Perhaps your knight is entering into a dark and dreary cave to rescue the fair maiden from the clutches of the evil fire breathing dragon lurking in the shadows. Or perhaps a half goat man is lounging in a hammock made of flowers and spring time leaves, while the fairies dance among the daisies. The perfect colors will only add value to your theme.
Once colors and creatures have been decided, your next step in planning a fantasy wedding is lighting. This may seem like an unusual step, and it’s one that often gets over looked even in traditional weddings, but lighting is very important when you’re trying to set a mood. A brightly lit vibrant cave will seem very out of place if your theme is dark and dangerous. Darker lighting is perfect for these situations, while brighter lighting works well with vivid colors for a lighter and more playful mood.
Now it’s time to piece everything together to create the perfect fantasy wedding. Need some ideas on getting started? To create a fantasy wedding using the themes we mentioned above, here’s some tips.
The hardest part in crafting a fantasy wedding is getting your theme across to guests, without going overboard. One theme we touched upon above, the knight and fair maiden may seem like an impossible task to complete. But for one, your wedding does not literally need to be set in a cave to get that feel across, unless of course you want it to be. To get the feel of a cave across, incorporate the color and lighting we previously mentioned (dark and dangerous) into the space you’ll be using for your wedding. Chairs should be darker colors, lighting should be dimmer, and the overall feel should be mysterious. The other big item in that theme is the dragon. How can one incorporate a dragon without spending a fortune? Your cake! Image a cake in the shape of a dragon, where the bride and groom take the first slice using a sword! Alas! The dragon has been slain!
If you are interested in creating a fantasy wedding incorporating fairies, let’s use A Midsummer Night’s Dream as our base. A play with jolly fairies and a sprite with animalistic features, not to mention a man whose face is turned into that of an ass and decorating. This wedding can be hosted in a local garden or forest, saving you money on the venue and leaving plenty of money to decorate the bride with gorgeous wings fit for a queen.
Whichever direction you decide to take with your fantasy wedding, one thing’s for sure, you’ll be using your imagination and sparking the imagination of guests, definitely making it a memorable occasion for all.

Read MoreHow to Marry a Prince
So you want to know how to marry a prince? Marrying a wealthy prince may seem like a fantasy come true, but the allure may be a bit overrated. Women have held onto the idea that a prince will sweep in and whisk them away to some far away land, when realistically this is not an idea to hold onto. There are very few “real” princes in the world, and truthfully not all of them would make a great husband. This “How To” will not teach you how to bag a wealthy foreign prince, nor will it give you a list of tips on how to make yourself more appealing, instead this “How To” will teach you how to find the prince right in front of your nose. The one who helps you on a day to day basis, and has been there throughout all your hardships. In reality, money and power is not what makes a “prince,” but a number of characteristics combined together will show you that the “boy next door” could really be your “knight in shining armor.”
First and foremost, you must be confident in yourself before you can find true love. You must love yourself before you can love others. This may seem like a cliché statement, but one that you should hold dear. Think about it – if you do not believe in yourself, you will constantly be setting yourself up for failure. You will enter into every relationship thinking you’re not worthy, and believing you must hold onto this person for fear that no one else will love you. What kind of life is that? Is that the way you want to carry a relationship? Of course not! Love yourself, and you will find love.
Next, go out of the norm. Each person finds a routine and then sticks with it. This could cause you to get into a rut. By forming a routine, going to the same places day after day, you will never meet anyone new. Get out your rut and try some place new, meet new people, and just get outside!
Reevaluate the people you surround yourself with. If you find that the people around you are constantly letting you down, or draining, it may be time to find a new crowd to hang with. How will you find your prince if you’re constantly surrounding yourself with toads? This goes hand in hand with breaking your rut. By going to new places, you’re sure to see plenty of new faces.
And finally, has there been anyone in your life that has always been there for you? Perhaps there’s the one man who has constantly surrounded you with attention and affection, has lifted you up when you were down, and went out of their way to cheer you up when the jerk you were dating failed you… again. Maybe it’s time to reevaluate that situation. Perhaps this prince charming is the prince charming for you. If so, it’s time to start the wedding planning!
